D’Tigress qualify for Paris Olympics

By Daily Sports Nigeria on February 10, 2024

The Nigeria women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, on Friday, qualified for the women’s basketball event of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The Nigerian ladies booked a ticket to Paris after Belgium defeated Senegal at the ongoing 2024 Olympics qualification tournament in Belgium.

The African champions had earlier suffered a defeat against the world champions, the US, with a score of 100-46.

However, a positive outcome in the other group match helped D’Tigress secure their spot in Paris.

Nigeria defeated Senegal 72-65 in their first game of the tournament, which gave the team a massive advantage over their West African neighbours.

This is the third time D’Tigress will qualify for the Olympic Games, having also competed at the Athens 2004 and Tokyo 2020 editions of the tournament.

The 2024 Olympics is billed for July 26–August 11 in Paris.
