Anambra Police Commissioner Bags SWAN Award

 Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has been honoured with an award of excellence by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN)), Anambra State Chapter.

Chairman of the state SWAN, Chimezie Anaso, presented the award to the Police Commissioner at the state command headquarters, Awka at the weekend.

Anaso said that the award was to appreciate the commissioner's valuable contributions to the development of sports in the state.

While lauding the initiatives of the Police Boss in promoting and supporting sports, he implored the commissioner not to relent, but to do more and deepen working relationship with the body.

He used the occasion to inform CP Adeoye of its plan to partner the state command as the lead security agency to stage games early next year among all security agencies in the state.

In his response,the Police Commissioner, described the body as one of its important stakeholders, as sports play critical role in maintaining social harmony, physical fitness and peace.

He thanked SWAN for appreciating the police modest contributions to maintenance of law, order and preservation of public peace.

Adeoye pledged to support the association in the state in any capacity.

Earlier, some members of the association, including Emma Ndukuba, Chigozie Chukwuleta and Jude Atupulazi, hailed the Commissioner’s unwavering commitment to sports development as well as cordial relationship with the body in ensuring that sports remained a source of relief especially in the wake economic downturn facing the nation.
