In the heat of Manchester United’s recent poor run of results, followers of the club have come out again to express their frustration after Nigerian afrobeat singer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido trolled them after the Red Devils 4-3 UEFA Champions League defeat to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
United suffered their ninth defeat in all competitions against the Denmark side, leaving them at the bottom of their group and with a tough task of qualifying for the next round of the Champions League. Erik Ten Hag’s side are also eight in the Premier League with 18 points from 11 matches.
Although they only returned to winning ways in the EPL with a 1-0 win against Fulham last weekend, the defeat to Copenhagen adds to their uninspiring form this season and the singer too was quick to remind their fans of their recurring problems.
He said, “I don’t watch ball like that … but come wetin Man U do so? Every week una dey complain enlighten me pls,” Davido wrote on X with a laughing emoji.
Albert Nat Hyde replied, “We are just one unlucky football club that make rival clubs like Chelsea who do not perform any better sleep well at night.”
Another frustrated United fan wrote, “Davido, that’s how we watch matches every week. I’m tired,” adding a crying emoji to the response.
“No one can explain, we just feel pains from everywhere every week,” Michaelson Hon also replied.
Although Davido claimed not to watch much football but his connection to the game is traceable to his visit to Old Trafford in October 2021, when he flaunted a No. 7 jersey in his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo who helped United to a 3-2 comeback victory over Atalanta in the Champions League that night.
Afterwards, the Nigerian singer performed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar while he also lit up this year’s PFA Awards in England with his performance.
