Bayern still interested in Ndidi

According to a German publication, Fussballtransfers, Bayern Munich are still in the market for a defensive midfielder with Nigeria international, Wilfred Ndidi, among the players still on the club’s shortlists ahead of the winter 2024 transfer window.
In August, Bayern had identified the Leicester midfielder for a potential loan deal as they explore the possibility of strengthening their midfield before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian was tipped for a move away from the Foxes during the transfer window, but surprisingly, stayed with Leicester in the Championship as they launched their quest to regain promotion back to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has started the 2023/24 season in fine form and has scored three goals and one assist from 8 games in all competitions so far this term.
Ndidi, who is in his eighth season with Leicester City, has less than a year on his contract but remained a valuable asset at King Power Stadium and a possible move from Bayern could represent a stepping stone in his career.
Thomas Tuchel’s need for a defensive midfielder has been well documented and the Bavarian club were closed to signing Palhniha from Fulham on the summer transfer window deadline day, but the deal fell through in the last minute.
Bayern were however dealt a heavy blow after the midfielder, on Thursday, penned a new five-year deal with the English Premier League club.
The Portuguese seems almost off the market with the Cottagers now set to demand a price in the region of €60m for the player, Bayern have listed six other players ahead of the January transfer window and Ndidi tops the list of the players wanted by the club.
“Wilfred Ndidi (26), who is now in second division with Leicester City after relegation from the Premier League, would like to work with Tuchel. According to the ‘kicker’, the trail to the Nigerian was hot – will it now be picked up again?” the website wrote.
Meanwhile, Leicester City are keen to negotiate a contract renewal with Ndidi, whose contract expires at the end of this season.
