Despite the public outcry over the outrage on the Super Falcons players’ year’s long Monthly bonuses by the NFF, the condemnation never moved the body into action. They are hardened. They play deaf, dumb and sadists roles at the expense of rightful owners of the money they shared among themselves, is not normal times as usual in our football arena!
There are many matters arising in all fronts. To worsen the whole scenario, FIFA brought entire new dimension into it by paying the players direct instead of the old system that monies are being paid to the football federations to take care of their players. Such system has thrown up many more problems than it is meant to solve.
It is instructive to vividly record that what has trailed the FIFA’s gestures has openly confirmed the attitudes of most of these federations embezzling the multi thousand dollars fund strictly meant for these players.
Such federations openly pocketed these monies and left the players FIFA fund is meant for empty handed. African Football Federations are red handedly caught in this unwholesome daylight diversion of these huge funds into their private pockets.
That has been the norm of Nigeria Football Federation in the thick of that battle of swimming in such corrupt dealings that epitomized the stealing of players bonuses and sundry over these years.
The recent rambling on players backlog of bonuses and diverting of FIFA grants are old stories and now that it came up again remains no surprise to keen, close and critical watchers and observers of the football house activities.
Owing players their bonuses are in short no news. The NFF has collaborators in the media, Sports Ministry, National Assembly and many more. Once FIFA grants meant to develop the game and improve other infrastructures got into NFF account, the Dollars are shared amongst these bodies and more. Then the bigwigs took theirs since government money will still come, FIFA funds are for the grabs into private pockets.
It is why national teams’ players of any colour are severally owed. Their coaches are not left out either.
Note that FIFA grants to NFF are enormous and so the body has no excuse whatsoever to owe any national team player or team coaches. The short changes from NFF to the players have sadly been dripping these years long. Fact is that each NFF executive committee has done all these anomalies and got away with them. They have fed fat on the sweat of the players and their officials to enrich themselves.
Nothing has been done about them thus far by these so called anti-corruption agencies. These men and their cohorts have smiled to the banks at the expense of the main actors’ players owing backlog of arrears. We have also observed the kind of attitude Ibrahim Gusau showed to the girls upon arrival from the just concluded Women World Cup held in Australia/Zealand won by Spain over England.
Our football administration system is sinking deeply. Those who ought to call this body to order are looking the other side because themselves are involved in the sharing of the loot. The players and coaches have been the victims. If you dare the cabal, they grudge you. The players have been the worst for these illegal stealing by the NFF big shot.
Golden Eaglets, Super Eagles in short all the national teams are under this man’s inhumanity to man. Their coaches for instance the recent was the Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum face-off with the NFF high command. Waldrum opened can of worms on his relationship with NFF since he was engaged by the apex football body.
The American football technical hand was owed Months long salary arrears. It became international scandal which NFF is not new to. After the naked public fight between both parties before the coach concentrated fully for the just concluded Women World Cup in Australia / Zealand which he gave great account of himself which again shamed the NFF antics.
Waldrum experience has been the way and manner NFF operates. The body goes to employ substandard white coaches which have often impacted negatively on the Super Eagles performances so far. Rohr came in place of first rate coaches interviewed and recommended for employment. But he was smuggled in. Again, there came this one Jose Peresie who has not won any game since the last administration headed by Amaju Pinnick. The current NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau was part and parcel of the last regime.
There has been hide and seek game hanging his stay or not after his contract expired long ago. Gusau has kept mute on his future in the team. That is how Nigeria operates. Super Eagles team has been going down the ladder among football teams in Africa and World at large since he took over.
Telling or writing about NFF would be boring to both the reader and the writer. Let us keep our fingers crossed as we move on. Keep shooting hard till next week. Meanwhile we wait!!
