Usyk Calls Tyson Fury ‘Crazy’

By Daily Sports Nigeria on March 14, 2023

Boxing star, Oleksandr Usyk has branded his heavyweight world champion rival Tyson Fury ‘crazy’ before performing a bizarre impression of the Gypsy King during an interview with Gary Neville.

The Ukrainian WBA, IBF and WBO titleholder has been trading insults with Fury since beating Anthony Joshua last year to retain his world titles. During an interview on The Overlap with former Manchester United and England footballer Neville, the heavyweight champion threw more barbs at his rival.

“Tyson Fury is belly, big belly,” claimed Usyk before slapping his stomach. He then added: “I’m not afraid of Tyson Fury.” The unbeaten Ukrainian then performed a bizarre impression of Fury scrunching his face and making gargling sounds with his tongue out.

Afterwards he puffs his cheeks before stating ‘crazy, good luck’. Neville than asks “of camera he was good yes?” Usyk agrees with this comment before the interview concludes.

Fans were impressed with Usyk’s impression of his rival with @Rubbafingaz1 claiming the British heavyweight uses his personality to sell fights. He said: “Summed up Fury’s personality at the end… As we all knew really Fury is a media man to sell a fight that’s all… he doesn’t have any ill feeling towards anyone… off camera he’s nice as pie… Almost a BFG lol…”

During the extensive interview, Usyk spoke about his harrowing account of the Ukraine war and opened up about his father dying after he won Olympic gold at London 2012. After turning professional Usyk became undisputed cruiserweight world champion before moving up to heavyweight.

With an unbeaten record of 20-0 the Ukrainian feels that he and WBC heavyweight world champion Fury ‘need’ the unification clash.

“I just need this fight and that’s it, I think he needs it too,” added Usyk. “This fight is very important to both of us because our four belts haven’t been held by one person for 30 years in the heavyweight division. This will be like any other fight. It’s just a big man who has never lost before against a man who has the WBC belt.

“Of course, it’s possible to get carried away, but actually this is a normal fight for the right to win all belts. If a person is bigger than me, it doesn’t mean that they’re stronger. If they have longer arms, it doesn’t mean that they will be an advantage.

“These were opinions from people who couldn’t do it themselves,” Usyk added. “Personally I keep praying and move forward. I don’t worry if I’ll reach my destination. I have my path and it will take me wherever god decides.”
