Peseiro Raises Alarm Over Wages

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 24, 2022

  • Goes Seven Months Without Pay From NFF

The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has once again reached out to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over his unpaid wages, if information published by OwnGoalNigeria is anything to go by.

Since taking over as coach of the Nigeria team almost months ago, the Portuguese coach who wasn’t unveiled before taking over as coach is yet to be paid a penny of the sum he agreed to be paid for the duration of his one year deal.

He is on a salary of $70,000 a month but as first reported by the publication he hasn’t been paid since taking over. His salary also covers his three other assistant while the Nigerian coaches attached to the team are on different pay arrangements.

“Since the last time, we haven’t heard anything about the salary. We were told by November that he will be paid soon but the last time I spoke with his representatives he said nothing has been paid,’ the publication editor revealed on a Kaduna based radio during his morning show, Sportsride.

“He told me they sent a reminder to the NFF this week but it’s clear that it will be a bleak Christmas for Peseiro and his assistants. The excuse still remains we are working on it. It is partly not in the hands of the NFF as sports minister in a press release said the ministry has gotten approval for the federal government to pay his salaries. So the minister is also culpable,’ the editor, Mohammed Mowiz rounded up.
