The Executive Chairperson of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos Chapter and members of the association, have felicitated with the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who marked his 50th birthday on 11 November 2022.
The Chairperson of Lagos SWAN, Ms Olatutu Oladunni, eulogised the leadership quality of Mr Speaker, who she said has been a wonderful politician who others must take cues from, adding that Obasa has been able to manage with dignity and God's wisdom the most prestigious state House of Assembly in the country.
"We commend the Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly as you continue to use brilliant initiatives to bring realistic strategies and policies to ensure Lagos State has world class enviable sports environment, and also understanding the importance of sports as a strong binding force between security and socio-economic wellbeing of the nation.
"On behalf of all of us in Lagos SWAN, we celebrate you wholeheartedly and say happy birthday and many happy returns," the chairperson said.
Oladunni noted that Speaker Obasa is known for his grassroots sports developmental plans across all the local government areas and local council development areas in Lagos State, adding that he is a mobiliser who has the love and the welfare of the people at heart, even beyond his constituency in Agege.
Rt. Hon. Obasa is contesting for the sixth time in the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Agege Constituency.
Oladunni recalled that Obasa has been a friend of Lagos SWAN who hosted some of the members who paid him a courtesy call during a visit to the House recently. According to her, the sporting spirit of Mr Speaker knows no bound, hence the resolve of Lagos SWAN to support Obasa in taking Lagos sports development to its height.
