Unease Clam Continues to Envelope NFF Bigwigs over FG’s Directive on Super Eagles Coach • Body Yet To Recover From Shock • As Confusion Rules

Daily Sports can now authoritatively reveal that an unease clam has continued to enveloped the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) since Federal Government’s order through the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare that other shortlisted coaches for the Super Eagles’ top job must be given level playing ground on the interview that would throw up the best hand to handle one of Africa’s supposedly strong teams to reckon with.

It was exclusively gathered that the summary instruction caught the apex football governing body off guard, as the executive committee has already zeroed down on Portuguese Jose Peresie who was reported to have  agreed to collect $50,000 (N20.9million) per a Month.

It is also in the public domain that the Portuguese also agreed he would pay the salaries of his two assistants. The contract has been nearly signed and sealed before the sledge hammer by the Federal Government through Sports Minister, Sunday Dare caught the body completely nabbing.

The usual credible source within the NFF emphatically confided to Daily Sports further that the order beat the NFF bigwigs hands down that they have no alternative than to fall in line with Federal Government’s directive on the foreign technical adviser for the nation’s flagship team.

According to the source, the whole thing is truly so tiring to the NFF now because the Federal Government in that directive from Dare explained that the government is ready to pay part of any shortfall in the salary of the foreign hand therefore a sound technically, tactically and high profile coach who would turn the fortunes of the fast declining Super Eagles around must be employed this time.

“That is the precise information the FG passed through the Sports Minister. That standard must be met. It looks set that the era whereby NFF employed half-baked foreign coach is nearing end if the FG truly follow it closely as contained in the tense statement by Sports Minister on the subject matter is anything to rely upon. It therefore meant that no more chance for journey man as Super Eagles coach,” the source revealed further.

It would be recalled that the technical and Development committee of the NFF shortlisted four foreign coaches to be interviewed and the best employed to coach the Super Eagles, only for the executive committee to go against it and settled for Jose Peresie while the likes of veteran and well grounded,  tested and trusted coaches like Ernesto Valverde, Philip Cocu and Laurent Blanc were never contacted again hence the FG order. The NFF fraudulently used the short cut of not contacting the rest three others above and sadly settled for less qualified Jose Peresie.
