Arsenal’s Maitland-Niles Closing In On Roma Move

By Daily Sports on December 27, 2021

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly closing in on a winter loan move to Roma. The 24-year-old has been nothing more than a bit-part player under Mikel Arteta and was expected to secure a move away from the Emirates last term after voicing his frustrations on social media.

Maitland-Niles ultimately stayed put after holding clear-the-air talks with Arteta, but his playing situation in North London has not improved. As a result, Maitland-Niles is once again thought to be open to an exit from Arsenal, with a temporary move to Jose Mourinho's Roma seemingly inching closer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Maitland-Niles and Mourinho are both keen on the move, with work underway to agree a loan deal with an option to buy for €10m (£8.4m). The versatile Englishman has only started two Premier League games this season and missed Sunday's 5-0 thumping of Norwich City after testing positive for COVID-19. (Sports Mole)
