Barca Target Olmo

By Daily Sports on December 22, 2021

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a £25m bid to sign RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo in the January transfer window.

Xavi is hoping he will be able to bolster his squad next month, as he is currently having to deal with a number of first-team injuries including Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, Pedri and Martin Braithwaite.

According to El Nacional, Barca have identified Olmo as one of their primary targets and they are ready to table a £25m bid, a fee they believe matches the player's valuation.

However, the report adds that the Catalan giants fear they could miss out on the Spain international to Manchester United, who have also expressed their interest and would have the finances to potentially persuade the midfielder to move to Old Trafford.

Olmo, who began his career with Barca's academy before joining Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, would be keen on a return to Camp Nou and the opportunity to work under club legend Xavi appeals to him.

The midfielder, who has also been linked with Manchester City, has been reduced to just six appearances for Leipzig across all competitions this season due to a muscle injury. (Sports Mole)
