The Association of Benin City Youth Football Club Owners has joined friends, family and fans of Yakubu Aiyegbeni in wishing the former Super Eagles striker a happy birthday as he turns 39 on Monday, November 22, 2021.

Chairman of the association, Douglas Idahosa, described Aiyegbeni as a man with a good heart who deserves all the best wishes in life.

“I say a big happy birthday to Yakubu. He is a man with the love of grassroots football still burning in his veins. We remember today, his birthday, the wonderful memories of his exploits in the Nigerian national teams as well as in club football. Long may Yak live,” Idahosa said.

Secretary of the association, Ken Ugbodaga, calls Aiyegbeni a big brother and huge football personality who should continue to be celebrated.

“Aiyegbeni is the biggest sponsor of the Benin City Youth League (being organised by the Benin City Club Owners), a competition that has grown to be one of the major grassroots football competitions in Nigeria. He has quietly gone about giving back to grassroots football and I have big admiration for him. I wish him Godspeed as he journeys on in life,” Ugbodaga said. Aiyegbeni is the owner of a burgeoning youth football club Yak FC, a team with very exciting young prospects. One of the players of Yak FC and a Golden Eaglet invitee Jeremiah Salami describes Aiyegbeni as an inspirational figure to young players.

“Aiyegbeni is a father figure to us at Yak FC. He’s given us great support and motivation. We are happy to join his millions of well-wishers in identifying with him as he celebrates his special day,” Salami said.
