I Knew That Adokiye Amiesimaka Would Not Accept Sports Minister’s Deceptive Assignment — Gara Gombe

By Daily Sports on November 18, 2021

He was my Chairman and I was his Vice Chairman when the Former Sports Minister LATE STEPHEN AKIGA through LATE CHIEF TAIWO OGUNJOBI, the Former Secretary General of NFA, appointed us to LEAD the COMMITTEE TO PREPARE A BLUEPRINT for the establishment of PREMIER LEAGUE IN NIGERIA.

From the day I saw his name on the so-called Football Master Plan Committee, I know CHIEF JUSTICE ADOKIYE AMIESIMAKA would not jump at this DECEPTIVE assignment. If you respect yourself others will RESPECT you. People must not jump at every appointment thrown at them.

Adokiye has paid his dues to this country as a player for Super Eagles, as an administrator as CHAIRMAN of Sharks Football Club and as a Public Servant as Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Rivers State. When he was Chairman of Sharks FC, I was Chairman of GOMBE UNITED FC. We have had tremendous understanding and desire to have a better Football League in the country. Adokiye does not take nonsense from anybody. He has taken so much rubbish from the system that I can say.

A Former Minister, ENGR. SANI NDANUSA, appointed him as CHAIRMAN of COURT OF ARBITRATION FOR SPORTS (CAS) IN NIGERIA only for the Minister to abandon the project. I had cause to say that CAS can never work in NIGERIA and I am vindicated as almost 11 years after it has not happened.

The NFF Who consider Chief Adokiye as its number one enemy were the first to KICK against the establishment of CAS in Nigeria. They are the worst offenders and they know going to CAS in Lausanne, Switzerland, requires huge resources so they don’t want it closer. As at that time there were 19 cases against the NFA in Nigerian courts. That was what pushed the Minister Ndanusa then to establish CAS, but as you know almost all Ministers are like “HOUSE BOYS” to NFA – only BAR GIMBA and HON. DANAGOGO and SAMAILA SAMBAWA dealt with them. NFA send our Sports MINISTERS on errand. It is happening in Nigeria.

Adokiye Amesiemeka knows his worth. He is not looking for job that he will jump at an appointment by a Minister of Sports. I thank CHIEF JUSTICE for respecting himself and protecting the dignity and pride of the people of Rivers State.

The NFF does not RESPECT or implement its own COMMITTEE REPORT not to talk of the one from Ministry. I was appointed into the Football Reform Committee. I came back to Nigeria to attend the inauguration in Lagos but after our first meeting I resigned and left because I saw that they are not serious and from some of the people I saw I knew it would not work. One and half years now nothing is heard of the Committee.
