Arsenal have reportedly identified Youssef En-Nesyri as a natural replacement for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. According to La Colina de Nervion, the Gunners will target the Morocco international with the hope of him taking over the attacking reins from Aubameyang. Aubameyang, 32, is still contracted to Arsenal until 2023 and despite an impressive first few seasons at the club, the Gabon international struggled to replicate that sort of form in the previous campaign. He scored just 10 times in the Premier League last season and despite a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup last month, most feel that his best days for Arsenal are over. The Gabonese striker was linked with a move to Barcelona in the off season, but with their current financial situation, that was never a viable option. Arsenal have made a dreadful start to the 2021/22 Premier League season, losing their first three matches. At 24 years of age, En-Nesyri is viewed as the perfect long-term replacement for Aubameyang at Emirates Stadium and according to the report, Arsenal would like to sign the Sevilla forward in January. En-Nesyri has scored 32 goals in 81 matches since joining Sevilla from Leganes in January 2020 for a reported fee of €25million. (African Football) •PHOTO: Youssef En-Nesyri
