Nigerian striker Isaac Success has reportedly expressed a reluctance to re-join Udinese in the ongoing European summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old is currently on the books of Premier League club Watford, though he has made only 16 appearances for the Hornets across the past two seasons.
Success joined Udinese in 2014 as a teenager, though he never actually played for the club due to work permit issues.
The Nigerian went on to feature for Granada in Spain’s Segunda Division and La Liga from 2014 to 2016, before signing for Watford for a reported £12.5 million.
He has been with the English side ever since, apart from a loan spell to Malaga in the 2017-18 campaign.
Remaining at Vicarage Road for the upcoming Premier League season looks set to be a frustrating path for Success, who finds himself behind the likes of Troy Deeney, Joao Pedro, Joshua King, Ashley Fletcher and even compatriot – and new signing – Emmanuel Dennis in the pecking order for strikers.
The Nigerian, who has been overlooked for pre-season friendlies against Arsenal, Stevenage, West Bromwich Albion, Brentford and Doncaster Rovers, would be open to a loan move back to the Championship, but there have been no suitors thus far.
Udinese are keen on bringing the player back to Italy – a move which on paper would suit all parties – but the Watford Observer report that Success would rather stay in England and try to fight for a place in the team.
