President Wants Hudson-Odoi To Play For Ghana’s Black Stars

By Daily sports on June 10, 2021

Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wants Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to switch his international allegiance from England.

The Chelsea FC star, who was born in England to parents of Ghanaian descent, is currently on holiday in Ghana.

This comes after the 20-year-old starlet was snubbed by England for the upcoming UEFA European Championship.

Hudson-Odoi visited Akufo-Addo at Ghana’s presidential palace, Jubilee House on Monday evening and the Ghana ministry of information released the following statement:

“On Monday, 7th June 2021, Ghanaian-born Chelsea footballer, Callum Hudson-Odoi, paid a courtesy call on me at Jubilee House, the seat of our nation’s presidency,” a statement read.

“Amongst others, I urged the Minister for Youth and Sports to explore the possibility of having Callum switch nationality, and play for the Black Stars.”

Hudson-Odoi has three senior caps for England having played against Kosovo, Czech Republic and Montenegro.

However, the highly-rated player is still eligible for a switch of national associations provided he does not add the fourth cap for England.

Hudson-Odoi enjoyed considerable success at youth level for England, being part of the squad which won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.

He scored two goals in seven matches as Chelsea clinched the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League title. (African Football)
