Salah: Liverpool Will Fight Against Real Madrid

By Daily sports on April 12, 2021

Egypt international Mohamed Salah has fired a warning to Real Madrid by stating that Liverpool FC will fight for a win when the two teams meet on Wednesday.

The world-class winger was speaking after scoring in the Reds’ comeback 2-1 win over Aston Villa in an English Premier League game on Saturday.

Liverpool came into the game against Villa having lost 3-1 to Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg game in Spain last week and the Reds will now host the Spanish champions at Anfield Stadium.

The win over Villa was the Reds’ third successive league victory for Liverpool, who are placed fifth on the Premier League standings, and one that maintained their ambitions to conclude the campaign with Champions League qualification.

“It’s really important. There are only seven games left still, so it’s really important to win. We are fighting for fourth place,” Salah said on the club’s official website.

“We want to play in the Champions League next season. We’ll keep fighting also in the next game against [Real] Madrid.

“The most important thing is we just need to focus on each game – we’ll try to win all and hopefully we can be in fourth place.”

The hard-fought result also halted a frustrating, freakish series that had seen Liverpool lose on each of their six previous outings at Anfield.

“Yeah, finally. Finally we won here. It was a great game, a tough team. We could strike back in the second half and win the game, that’s the most important thing,” Salah continued.

“To fight back, that’s the most important thing. We didn’t win a couple of games here. Mentally, it [could have been] like, ‘Ah, not again.’

“So we go in the dressing room after the first half and everybody was talking to each other. We did a good job in the second half and won the game.

“It’s hard not to win at Anfield for a couple of games. Being 1-0 down in the first half was also hard, we missed a couple of chances – ‘Ah, not again,'” he added.

“But the good thing is we keep fighting and we did good in the second half.” (African Football)
