Giwa FC central midfielder, Charles Henlong has said his side will win outright the Jos derby at newly promoted side, Plateau United.
Giwa FC will be the guests of City rivals, Plateau United in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 11 clash at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
Henlong said his side will cash in on their winning mentality as well as the state FA Cup victory against the newcomers to further overpower the opponents in the NPFL clash on Sunday.
“It will be our day on Sunday to prove our superiority over Plateau United after we edged the side for the state FA Cup coveted title at the weekend.
“We are meeting the side for the first time as Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side so we want to make it a double within a space of one week.
“A win in the derby clash will greatly help us to challenge for the summit.
“We are not expecting anything an easy game at Plateau United it’s going to be really difficult but the advantage we have at the moment is the winning mentality in us.
“Plateau United just lost the state FA Cup match to us and were further beaten in the NPFL clash at FC IfeanyiUbah while we won our league clash against former champions, Kano Pillars heading into the Jos derby tie.
The losses are going to weigh down heavily on Plateau United and we hope to cash in on their disadvantage to compound their plights,” said the former Mighty Jets ace to supersport.com.
Giwa FC are 10th on the 20-team top flight on 14 points from possible 30 with a game to spare at Nasarawa United. (Supersports.com)
