Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid.
According to FootMercato as reported by Manchester Evening News, the LaLiga champions have made contact with Mahrez’s representatives over a potential move.
Mahrez joined Manchester City from English Premier League rivals Leicester City in July 2018 for a fee in the reported region of £60 million.
The 29-year-old featured prominently for City last season, playing 50 times across all competitions. He scored 13 goals and assisted a further 16 through the course of the 2019/20 campaign.
Mahrez still has three years left on his current deal at Etihad Stadium and has given no indications that he wants to leave the club.
City have already lost one winger in the transfer window with Leroy Sane having completed a move to Bayern Munich. Pep Guardiola moved quickly to bring in Ferran Torres from Valencia and are determined not to lose another star player before the start of the season. (African Football)
