Al Ahly striker Junior Ajayi has revealed that he wants to face Zamalek in the final of the CAF Champions League.
The continental competition remains suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic, but if and when it resumes, the chance of the Cairo giants meeting in the final looms large.
Ahly are set to face Wydad Casablanca in one semifinal, while Zamalek will tackle Raja Casablanca in the other.
“If I had the decision, I would prefer to face Wydad Casablanca in the Champions League semifinal, as we met them before and we know how they play,” Ajayi told a television programme early on Monday, as quoted by Ahram Online.
“In the Champions League final, I prefer to face Zamalek for the same reason, a team we know well,” the Nigerian star added.
“I think playing the Champions League final with one game, not home and away, is the best choice.”
Ahly and Zamalek have featured in three of the last four Champions League finals (Ahly in 2017 and 2018, Zamalek in 2016), but they have never met in the showpiece match of the top continental competition. (African Football)
