The Bundesliga is set to get back underway next week, but Philippe Coutinho will not be in Bayern Munich’s squad for their game against Union Berlin.
The Brazilian playmaker has undergone surgery on his right ankle and although he was expected to return to action in two weeks’ time, a new setback means that he will be out for a month and a half.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Coutinho could miss the remainder of the season, or be back to fitness just in time for Bayern’s last league game in the 2019/20 campaign.
However, he could be ready in the event that the Champions League returns in August, although UEFA have yet to release any official dates.
This injury is not good news for neither Coutinho nor Barcelona, who are willing to offload the Brazil international in the next transfer window.
Bayern have decided against triggering their 120 million euro option to buy on Coutinho, while Premier League clubs, such as Newcastle United and Chelsea , have set their sights on the 27-year-old (Mundo Deportivo)
