Sunshine Queens FC will on March 18 host Confluence Queens FC of Kogi at the Ondo State Sports Complex Akure in a week one Nigerian Women Professional League (NWPL) tie.

Authorities of the league body at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Benin City on Tuesday announced the league format and its commencement.

Sunshine Queens will compete in Group A alongside Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens, Dream Stars FC, Abia Angels and Pelican Stars.

Sunshine Queens Team Manager, Seun Betiku, who spoke with journalists at the end of the AGM, said the technical crew and players are aware of the huge task ahead and always prepared for it.

“We are professionals and we have set target. We’ll ensure we redouble our efforts and achieve the desired goals,” he said.

On the group tagged “too tough” Betiku opined that for every club to become the best it must face the toughest teams

“Sure, it’s a bit tough compared to Group B, but I’m optimistic we’ll triumph over our opponents,” he said.

The league is expected to commence to end on June 24, 2020.
