The much-anticipated 6th edition of Ndokwa Peace and Unity Sports Festival kicks off with a novelty match between Kwale Allstars and Enugu Allstars by 1pm today, Saturday, December 7, as part of the opening ceremony.

The draws took place earlier at Kwale Township Stadium on December 2 in the presence of the Sponsor, Hon. Joshua Ojieh Opia, sports fans and coaches of participating teams.

The event coordinator, Coach Whyte, outlined the rules and regulations for the tournament and enjoined participants to ensure strict compliance. He announced that all the matches will be played in Kwale Township Stadium.

Earlier in an address, the Chairman organising committee, Engr. Greg Asudike, represented by Coach Chukwuma, appreciated Hon. Joshua Ojieh Opia for funding the event since 2014.

He called on coaches and players of the participating teams to adhere strictly to the rules. He further assured the people of the committee’s fairness to all teams.

In a similar vein, veteran coach Godfrey Esu thanked Hon. Opia for his efforts in developing grassroots sports. He urged sports lovers in the area to encourage the philanthropist by supporting the event to ensure sustainability.

In his remarks, Hon. Opia reaffirmed his commitment towards sports development in Delta State and beyond.

The Pillar of Sports in Ndokwa nation re-emphasised that the sports fiesta is free for all participants across the three local government areas that makes up Ndokwa nation, irrespective of religion or political affiliations.
