Mulade Sheriff Cup: 16 Ijaw/Itsekiri Coastal Communities Compete For N2.2M Prize

Screening of players and the draws for the popular grassroots football tournament, Comrade Mulade Sheriff Peace and Unity Cup, are expected to hold today, Thursday, November 7, 2019. A total of 16 teams are registered for the tournament meant to promote peace between Ijaw and Itsekiri communities of Delta State.

A statement signed by the Media and Publicity Committee Chairman, Mr. Azuka Chiemeka, says this is the most crucial aspect of the football fiesta, “therefore any Team/Community that fails to participate in the screening risks being disqualified, while every registered Team or Community must appear with all its Players, Coach and Technical Team for the screening.”

The statement names the Communities registered for the Mulade Sheriff Peace and Unity Cup as:

(A). FOR ITSEKIRI COMMUNITIES:

1: Ogidigben

2: Ijaghala

3: Madangho

4: Ugbegungun

5: Bateren

6: Agogboro

7: Ajudaibo

8: Ugborodo

(B). FOR IJAW COMMUNITIES

1. Okerenkoko

2. Kokodiagbene

3. Oporoza

4. Kunukunuama

5. Teibejor

6. Benekrukru

7. Opuedebubor

8. Kurutie

The LOC says football scouts will be on ground to discover and select talented players for the Delta State League as well as for the Nigeria Premier League.

The LOC congratulates all teams ahead of the 2019 edition of the peace and unity football cup, which is expected to be a successful tournament.
