Desperate Chelsea turn sights to Adebayor

By Nelson Dafe on January 14, 2016

English Premier League strugglers and defending champions Chelsea have reportedly turned their sights on Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor as the search for attackers capable of lifting them from the bottom of the league.

Adebayor has been out of competitive club action for about a year now, but it seems it is to him who Chelsea would rely on to score goals.

Several sports news outlets in the UK are reporting that The Blues are likely to resort to a desperate short-term deal to get the former Arsenal man who left fellow Premier League campaigners Tottenham Hotspurs by mutual consent just before at the start of the present season.

Adebayor has been recently posting videos of his intense exercises to convince prospective suitors of his fitness and with a high level of experience of banging in goals at the top level, Chelsea have seemingly been tempted.

However, there may be concerns in Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge about his overall attitude with his controversial past that has seen him fall out publicly with former teammates, coaches, his Togo national football federation and his family.

Chelsea’s attack this season has been unconvincing. Strikers Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao, Eden Hazard and Logic Remy have been largely disappointing, failing to score with the kind of regularity that would have taking the club away from the bottom half of the table, where they are currently occupying.
