Nigerian champions, Enyimba are on the verge of naming a capable replacement for former head coach, Kadiri Ikhana.

Ikhana’s contract was not renewed after guiding the People’s Elephant to its seventh league title at the end of the 2014/15 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

An official of the side, Farriel Alaputa said the management will in few days time name a coach to guide the two-time African champions in their quest for laurels in Caf Champions and domestic Leagues.

“A new man will be appointed in the coming days to take over from former head coach, Kadiri Ikhana.

“Ikhana’s contract which elapsed with the out gone season was not renewed for reasons best known to the management.

“Management has vowed to give the side capable coach to guide the team in their quest for more titles in the continent and domestic scene,” said Alaputa to supersport.com.

Alaputa however could not confirm speculation that the seven-time Nigerian champions will be going after their former coach, Salisu Yusuf.

“I cannot confirm that right now that Salisu Yusuf is the anointed man to replace Kadiri Ikhana, I’m sure Nigerians will not be kept too long on the identity of the new man at Enyimba,” said Alaputa.

Enyimba already have a date with the Ugandan champions, Vipers in the continent’s elite clubs competition in the second week of February in Kampala.
