Guinness Nigeria’s Heart of Gold

By Daily Sports on December 14, 2015

The other day, I was reflecting deeply on the companies in Nigeria whether multi-national or national concerns that have contributed immensely to the growth of football cum sports in the country, and the name of Guinness Nigeria Plc became a recurring decimal. I later broached the issue with my colleagues at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) centre at the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
Their testimonies instantly prompted this write-up whose first title was ‘Guinness’ Unending Thirst for Youths Development in Nigeria,’ before the above caption was finally arrived at. No jokes, the brewery giant has been consistent with its self avowed responsibility. It has carried fans of the game along and such no doubt has become the staying power of the scout beer.
In a nutshell, Guinness has religiously fulfilled its pledge to provide more exciting times to football fans across the country these odd years. Guinness Nigeria Plc in its tradition has also worked so hard in ensuring it offers dynamic and exciting marketing promotion that suits every season of the beautiful game. It has been timely made public which continues to hold the fans spellbound.
One such very depth and well researched campaign is ‘Every Minute Made of Black’. Activated across Nigeria, ‘Every Minute Made of Black’, the football consumer endorsement was conceived  to  reward  loyal  football  fans  and  give  them  an  intense experience that represents the bold, iconic beer.  That is simply the Guinness enduring character.
Little wonder, therefore, that the company has leveraged the opportunity to engage fans at home, bars and viewing centres, giving them a stake in the game and the chance to win great prizes. To put it mildly, it has paid off handsomely and made Guinness the undisputed number one choice scout beer among customers from age 18. In short, once you mention scout beer, the name that readily comes to mind is Guinness scout. It may be safe to say that this has come as a result of its innovative advertising which fans and consumers have found to be fun and interesting way to keep them hooked on to the round leather game’s frills, thrills and goals.
It is instructive to note that Guinness has genuinely rewarded Nigerians  for  their passion  and  gives  them  an  opportunity  to make  every  match  day  an  exciting experience. It has been the reason consumers have more reason to enjoy their games over these years and get involved with their favourite team matches. Guinness Nigeria Plc has become a way of life to many and it cuts across all ages. The exciting moments of the scout beer has been so dripping to say the very least.
It is an established fact that the company has truly supported the development of football in the country; it is on record that in 2013, its fastest growing beer brand in Nigeria, Harp Premium Lager signed a year sponsorship deal with five Nigerian Professional Football League clubs- Dolphin International FC Club; Lobi Stars FC; Rangers International FC, Sunshine FC of Akure and Heartland FC. It is all about the company Guinness. Needless remind us that the relationship was very charmed to behold for the clubs. In short, the partnership was one to live to remember for good.
It would be recalled that it was during that partnership with Guinness Nigeria Plc, that International Federation of Football history and statistic report ranked the Nigerian Professional Football League one of the best in Africa. Daily Sports would want more companies and rich individuals to follow the footprints of Guinness Nigeria Plc and support our National League which would take our clubs to the optimum level.
The good thing about Guinness Nigeria Plc is that it is not welded to any team, but maintains the neutral stance of being welded to the squad that gives the most experience live on to their numerous fans.
Furthermore, the multi-national corporate citizen has set the tune in promoting and sponsoring the most crowd pulling single sport in the globe in Nigeria. They are number one all the way. Viva, Guinness Nigeria Plc!!
