Barcelona are back at the summit of the Spanish Liga Iberdrola standings after a pair of goals from Asisat Oshoala inspired them to a 6-2 victory over Sevilla at Mini Estadi.
Lluis Cortes’ side required a win over their visitors in their title pursuit but Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win at Espanyol on Monday dropped them to the second spot.
Oshoala, who returned in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Bayern Munich after a month out with a hamstring injury, scored twice on her league return to keep the Blaugrana’s title ambitions alive.
Lieke Martens opened the scoring for the hosts after just 11 minutes and Oshoala scored twice in four minutes shortly after the half-hour mark to make the score 3-0.
However, Nadezhda Karpova pulled one back in the 36th minute before Mapi Leon’s own goal helped the visitors to further reduce their disadvantage.
Three minutes to the half-time break, Stephanie van der Gragt increased the tally for Barcelona as she made it 4-2 thanks to an assist from Andressa Alves.
After the restart, Aitana Bonmati extended the lead in the 63rd minute and Candela Andujar scored twenty minutes later to wrap up the win. (Goal)
