The much anticipated Bet9ja football competition draws have held in Benin City with pomp and anxiety as grassroots clubs get ready to fight for honors.
The Bet9ja football tournament has become a very hotly contested annual affair in Edo state and this year’s edition, which is the 5th actually, promises a lot of fireworks as youth players step up attempts to be the next big stars of world football.
The draws, which held at the glitzy Q5 Lounge and Bar at Airport road in Benin City, threw up interesting match ups in the opening rounds.
Defending champions Rockers FC have been drawn in Group B to lock horns with Dynamo FC, a club that has steadily risen in profile in Edo state in recent years as a well-funded machine and as well as now producing a number of players who have gone on to sign for foreign clubs.
Also in group B are the inform team Light FC who have looked very strong in recent weeks with a string of good results in the recent friendly matches.
Also in Group B are Bravehearts, a very ambitious side striving for greatness.
Rolly FC, the new boys in town, are to slug it out in Group G against Ugbomo FC and Flying Stars FC.
Rollys FC, who pride themselves on good passing football, is owned by Bet9ja Super Agent Roland Inonoje who is the brain behind the competition.
Benin Warriors FC, former champions of the Edo state league, will face Clubbers FC in a potentially explosive clash in Group H. Clibbers stopped the Warriors last year in the second round of the competition and with a host of very quality players, they will be looking sail through in the Group that also features a physically strong Remite FC side and Willers FC.

Edo FA Cup Draws Set to Hold
Below is a statement from the Edo FA media department:
“Edo state football Association will on Tuesday April 9, 2019 hold draws for this year Aiteo Cup competition.
“A statement by the secretary of Edo FA Elder Emmanuel Ajibola, the draws will take place at Wesley Hotel event hall at No 58, Akhionbare Street, off Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City, by 9am Prompt.
“The draws will be conducted for thirty (30) registered teams in the state comprising 26 male teams and 4 female teams.
Representatives of the registered teams are to be seated by 8am.”
