Patron of the Delta Force Football Club of Asaba, Sir John Ifejiofor, has expressed confidence in the ability of the club to play in the Nigeria Premier League next season.

Sir Ifejiofor said this in Asaba while being presented with the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa pre-Season Championship trophy won by the fast-rising outfit.

He said the club had surpassed all expectations barely three weeks after formation, noting that the team which dazzled some of the established football clubs within and outside the state, has showed a lot of promises ahead of its debut in the Nigeria National League.

Sir Ifejiofor while assuring the team of his support urged it to sustain the tempo by going all out to claim a promotion ticket and equally do well in the Nigeria Federation Cup where it will also be making its debut in the 2016 edition.

Delta Force Chairman, Tony Rafua, while thanking Sir Ifejiofor for continuing to give his best for the club, and assured him that it would not disappoint the government and people of Delta State as the club is keen on taking the Nigerian football scene by storm.

Rafua appealed to the government and people of Delta not to relent in their support for the club. He affirmed that the management and players are working assiduously to ensure that they claim not only a promotion ticket, but also a likely continental ticket as the team is aiming to also win a first ever Nigeria FA Cup title in its debut season.

The coach of the team, and former Super Eagles defence ace, Kingsley Obiekwu, and the captain of the side, Uche, commended Sir Ifejiofor for the support he has been giving the team and assured him that they would continue to do their best to bring pride and honour to the state.

Daily Sports reports that Delta Force had beaten highly revered Delta FA Cup title holders, J. Atete Football Club of Warri, in the final of the Governor Okowa Pre-Season Football Championship at the Sapele Township Stadium with teams like Dolphins of Port Harcourt that merged with Sharks to form Rivers United failing to qualify from the group stage.

The highlight of the visit was the trophy presentation to Sir Ifejiofor by the Chairman of the club, Rafua, supported by the captain of the team.
