W’Cup: Cameroon beat Brazil 1-0, fail to make knockout stage

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 3, 2022

Although Cameroon beat the number one football national team in the world 1-0, the historic win against Brazil is not enough to see them qualify for the World Cup Round of 16.

Vincent Aboubackar scored the winner for Cameroon against Brazil in the 92nd minute at Doha’s Lusail Stadium. Then got a red card for taking off his shirt to celebrate having received a yellow card earlier in the game.

Cameroon has become the first African team to ever defeat Brazil in a World Cup match.

Although they lost to Cameroon in their first goal conceded in the 2022 tournament,  Brazil topped the group and advance to a last-16 tie against South Korea having won their first two matches.

Arsenal’s 21-year-old Gabriel Martinelli had an impressive performance in his first start at the World Cup, but all his shots on target were saved by Cameroon’s goalkeeper, who gave a stellar performance for the African side.
