Former Nigeria international Victor Moses needs to improve his match fitness according to Spartak Moscow head coach Domenico Tedesco.

The versatile player made his fifth appearance of the season in the Russian Premier League as Spartak were held to a 1-1 draw by Dinamo Moscow on Saturday.

Moses missed pre-season training with the Russian giants with the club busy looking to secure a loan deal with his parent club, Chelsea.

The two teams reached an agreement on 25 October 2020 and Moses joined Spartak on a season-long loan deal from the English giants with an option to buy.

Tedesco has provided an update on Moses, who retired from international football in August 2018 in order to focus on his club career.

“Victor Moses is not yet at the level that I want to see him. We will need time to get the players back to the required level. This applies not only to Victor, but also to the others,” Tedesco was quoted as saying by Sport Express.

“Yes, I am satisfied with [Aleksandr] Kokorin’s performance. We did not have the opportunity to involve [Aleksandr] Sobolev.

“Today we saw the strengths of Alexandr. But Kokorin, like Moses, did not pass the winter training camp, and we need to get them back in shape.”

Moses has hit the back of the net once and provided one assist for Spartak, who are placed third on the Russian Premier League standings with 29 points. (African Football)
