The Management of former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers International FC of Enugu, has said that it is waiting for the official statement from the League Management Company (LMC) on the online video conference discussions of club owners on Sunday on the ending of the 2019/2020 season.

At an emergency meeting at the club’ corporate headquarters, Monday, Rangers’ GM/CEO, Prince Davidson Owumi, declared that until an official statement comes from the league organisers, the club will hold its reaction to all that has been trending in the media.

“What I actually submitted was for a ‘Super-Six Playoff’ for the top six teams on the NPFL 2019/2020 log to help produce credible representatives for the country on the continent and equitably end the season due to the extra-ordinary force majeur occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic or cancel the entire process called LMC/NPFL 2019/2020 season,” stated the former NPL boss.

Owumi further said: “Equals should be treated equally. For equity, the league should be cancelled which means that the 2019/2020 season did not take place just as it is with Aiteo Cup 2020, NNL 2019/2020 and NLO 2020 so that there would be no victor, no vanquished.

However, there must be a victor and a vanquished (Champions and Relegated teams) if the PPG option should be implemented.”

In another development, the remains of former Secretary of Rangers International FC and father of former senior international and Rangers midfielder Onyedika Ogbuke, Sir (Ozo) Ogbuke Felix Chukwuma (KSJI), will be buried on Friday in his home town, Enugu-Obe, Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State.

Management of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ are participating actively in the burial arrangement put together by the immediate family of the astute sports administrator who joined his ancestors earlier in the year at the age of 69 years after a protracted illness.

GM/CEO of Rangers, Owumi, in a chat said that the club is standing by the family of the late scribe who served the club well for over two decades. “We are in contact with the family of our former Secretary, late Sir. Ogbuke Felix, who left us some months back. He served the club well and we are fully involved in his committal to mother-earth. His death is very painful but we can’t question God; rather, we give God praises and pray the He grant Ogbuke’s soul eternal rest,” Owumi said.

Also speaking, the Administrative Secretary of the club, Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua, said: “We are pained by the death of the club’s former scribe, Sir. Ogbuke Felix. Like it is known with the club, we are taking a pole position in his burial. We appreciate the fact that there is a Covid-19 protocol and we shall abide by it and also ensure that the departed soul is given the required rites.”

Late Sir. Ogbuke is survived by wife, children, grand-children, In-laws and many others.
