The management, technical crew, players, staff and the entire supporters of Plateau United Football Club of Jos have condoled with the club’s Head Coach, Abdu Maikaba, over the untimely death of his elder brother, Mustapha.

A statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, described the demise of Mustapha as sad and a great loss not only to the Maikaba family but to the club.

While praying for the repose of Mustapha’s soul, the statement urged the family to accept his demise as an act of God, stressing that death is a necessary end for all mortals.

The statement further prayed God almighty to bring forth somebody within the family to fill the vacuum left by the death of Mustapha, noting that with God all things possible.

Meanwhile, Plateau United has proceeded on a one-week break following the suspension of  the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) due to the ravaging scourge of the Coronavirus virus which has assumed the status of a global pandemic.

General Manager of the club, Pius Henwan, said that the recess became necessary in order to enable the players have some rest pending when the league will resume.

Henwan explained that the break, which is to enable the health authorities find a lasting solution to the pandemic, will afford the team the opportunity to take a deserved rest after a rigorous campaign which began since July last year.

The General Manager appealed to the players to stay away from the crowd and avoid training as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as deliberate measures to halt the spread of the virus.

He urged the players not to travel during the period without proper permission from the management, warning that any person who violates the order will be properly sanctioned.

Henwan praised the players for recording an unprecedented ten-match unbeaten run in the club history and advised them to remain focussed until the league is won.
