Eaglets, Enyimba, EFCC And IAAF Grant Twist

Between Garba Shehu and Lai Mohammed, I don’t know who has the upper hand in lying about the obvious. If you watched Garba Shehu defending President Buhari’s so-called private visit to London, you would come to real terms that Nigeria is truly in the hands of the deceitful lot and agents of destruction.

Most senior media men can readily attest to who the real Garba is. Aside from his famed attitude of talking on the drop of a hat, he is also and mostly known as a betrayer of the first order.  Reading his lips, you see that lie manifest easily.

As you read this article, Muhammadu Buhari is in London for medical tourism after an official trip from Saudi Arabia.  Nigerians are told by both the Presidency and APC that he will be in London for a private visit. Nigeria is currently under the heavy yoke of terror governance, manned by hardened criminals, deceitful propagandists and compulsive liars of the first order.

Some of us are keenly watching as events unfold.  You can only deceive the people some of the time but not all the time. At the right time, Nigeria will be set free. It is obvious that the truth is being haunted by this regime as shadow chasing remains the hallmark of Buhari and his junta.  The government is always crying wolf where there is none and this time around its chief complaint is fake news and the so-called sensation of the social media. My submission remains that as Buhari failed woefully with his Decrees Nos. 2 and 4, during his first shot at governance, how does he think that he and his co-travellers will succeed this time around?

Border closure is his stock in trade. He likes inflicting suffering on the people. Forget these sing-songs by his sycophants that the action is successful. For instance, the borders up North are very porous. Your honest guess is as good as mine.

The media has been here and will out-live him and those urging him on and they will become history after all.   I am particularly alarmed with what is happening in the political arena where the Judiciary, the supposedly last hope of the common man and the great pillar for the sustenance of democracy has been totally stripped in the very crowded market place by Muhammadu Buhari, who is known not to be friendly with the civil rule.

It is not hidden also that he is a pretender to it.  Buhari, Tinubu, Oshinmole, El Rufai, Amaechi et al,  know very well that All Progressives Congress did not do well to merit a return to governance, so they plotted and perfected the removal of former Chief Justice of the Federation, Water Onnoghen. They, knowing that the Presidential election would be decided at the Supreme Court and that the only way to retain Buhari would be to bring on board someone who would hear his voice and do his bidding, brought in Justice Tanko to became the Chief Justice of the Federation, hence using him as an undertaker. Buhari in his usual characteristics is unleashing military rule on Nigerians, thereby reducing the once buoyant nation and her teeming populace to a harrowing poverty level, prompting many to ask: Buhari, When will this suffering end?

Let me leave the rest to history which is never partial in its judgments. The men mentioned above have never been sincere, even in their early days.

Football has been the major reason that has kept Nigeria one, at least for now. It is against that inflammable background, therefore, that the Golden Eaglets is still thriving. The team, despite the loss of their last group game against Australia, is in the second round of the ongoing summit in Brazil.

My anger boiled to high heavens when the Eaglets chief coach, Garba said he is worried and would work on the leaky defence of the ream. I became further scandalised on that silly, careless, unserious and nonsensical statement from Garba, that his team showed the leaky defence line from the first game against Hungary. To hear Garba recite that leaves a sour taste in the mouth. It remains nonsensical in every material particular. He (Garba) has further demonstrated his way of tackling supposedly urgent matters of national importance.  That he would still be pointing at the weak area of his team, which glaringly paints a sad picture of his technical ability and tactical discipline, which of course contributed greatly to the loss of the group's last game is a sad commentary on how not to be a professional coach. This faux pas would not have been if the coach had done the needful after the game against Hungary.  My take on Manu Garba as a lame-duck coach has once again been fully stamped.

If up till losing the last group match, Garba is still pointing to leaky defence, then it calls for serious examination, to ascertain the kind of sweat merchant he is. Garba should be told in clearer and unmistakable terms, that Nigeria as five-time champions of the World in this tournament, has one of the strongest  pedigree amongst her present competitors and Garba  must ensure his tactical approach would not act as impediment to a more meaningful outing as the boys further breathe into brevity, swiftness, purposefulness, determination, focus, less wastefulness, closer marksmanship and concentration. With diligence and extra confidence, the lads would no doubt achieve greatness once again in this 2019 edition.

One of our representatives in CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba International FC has secured a berth into the group stage of the championship after dismissing TS Galaxy of South Africa in the second leg in the rainbow nation. The Nigerians true to their rating in the continent, qualified after defeating the homers 2-1 thus qualifying on 4-2 goals aggregate.

The Aba Elephants showed class, not taking anything for granted right from the first blast of referee’s whistle till the curtain was drawn, ensuring the team booked a space in the next stage. It may be safer for one to conclude that the focussed attitude with which the visitors approached the second leg, neutralised the kind of resistance the South African club side posed or displayed in Aba. It paid off handsomely, thereby placing the Nigerian representative in great pedestal for future exploits in the tournament.

Vigilance should be the watchword from thence on. Well done,  Enyimba as we expect more hard work even as there are tough roads to travel.

Nigerians have got more than what they bargained for in the hands of Buhari’s APC that has reared more delinquents’ than ever before. These idlers have posed an increasing danger to society. Sports that hitherto have saved the nation from total collapse, have been invaded dastardly since the advent of this regime in 2015. The IAAF fund was embezzled by the former Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung. Ironically, the dramatis personae have been left off the hook while the EFCC has been holding the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry captive for the money that was paid to Dalung. Nigeria remains a country of contradictions, yet this crooked government deceitfully says it is fighting corruption while many obvious corrupt cases are not being looked into.  Haba!!

For this columnist, this page would continue to resist overtures of being gaged because the people’s right to know lies with the mass media. Let us keep our fingers crossed. Keep shooting hard, till next week!!
