Osabu FC and Nigerian Grassroots Star Idoghor Signs for Omani Club

By Daily Sports on September 12, 2019

The sun to professional football outside the shores of Nigeria has shone for grassroots defender Bright Idoghor of Benin City-based club Osabu FC as he has just penned a long term deal with top Omani club Al Itihad.

Idoghor is an astute defender who can operate a center back and a left full back. He has been in resplendent form for Osabu FC who competed in this year’s Edo AITEO FA Cup and the Edo State League.

The young defender so combines a bundle of strength, pace and strong reading of the game has been followed for some time by Al Itihad and the Middle East club finally got their man when Idoghor flew to Oman to finalise his move.

A statement from his parent club Osab FC reads in part: “We wish Brightly a good time as a professional player in Oman. He is an excellent payer on the pitch and a very disciplined lad off the pitch. He deserves a happy life as professional and we are proud to have contributed our quota to his development as a player.”

Al-Ittihad Club (Arabic: نادي الاتحاد‎) is an Omani sports club based in Salalah, Oman. The club is currently playing in Oman First Division League, first division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Saada Stadium, but they also recognise the older Salalah Sports Complex as their home ground. Both stadiums are government owned, but they also own their own personal stadium and sports equipment, as well as their own training facilities.

Idoghor is managed by NFF licensed intermediary Sunday Oke, a young and ambitious agent who is giving hope and belief to a lot of talented grassroots players with his aggressive push and sponsorship of players to foreign based clubs.

Oke is working indefatigably with numerous players, youth and professional cubs in trying to fashion good deals for good players that would benefit all parties involved in players transfer.

BJ Retain Edo State League Crown

BJ Foundation FC of Benin City on a waterlogged UNIBEN Complex pitch retained the Edo state league crown by defeating ASFA FC of Ekpoma on Wednesday afternoon in Benin City.

BJ shot into an early lead through Raymond Ikhenoba and held of a spirited fight back by ASFA. It was 2-0 late in the first half with Ikhenoba completing his double but ASFA pulled a goal back in the first half.

Innocent scored BJ’s 3rd in the second half to kill off any hope of an ASFA fightback and hand BJ another trophy in their cabinet.
