African Games: Falconets Spank South Africa in Opening Match

By Daily Sports on August 18, 2019

The Nigeria U20 women’s team started off their campaign in the African Games football tournament with a 3-0 victory over South Africa in Rabat on Saturday.

The South Africans were aiming to avenge their 8-0 aggregate defeat in the 2018 U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the expense of West African giants.

On the other hand, the Falconets aimed to retaliate after the Super Falcons' 1-0 shock opening 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations defeat to Banyana Banyana in Ghana.

First-half goals from Gift Monday and Zainah Olapade alongside second-half strike from substitute Cynthia Aku gave Christopher Danjuma’s ladies a winning start at the Stade des Chenes. (Goal)
