By Nelson Dafe on May 18, 2019

Grassroots club Mission Side FC of Benin City made fine history for themselves as they claimed their first major title by defeating BJ Foundation FC 6-5 on penalty shootout to win the 5th edition of the Bet9ja Super Agents cup.

In a tense final match played against the backdrop of pomp at the S&T barrack in Benin city, Mision Side battled back from a goal down, after Precious Ediae had given BJ the lead late in the game, to equalize through Osele, who bravely attacked a cross from the left as BJ goalkeeper Shangar Anthony raced to save and nodded home a precious goal as injury time approached to send the game into penalties.
BJ Foundation usually start games with intensity, pressuring teams with long balls which thier attackers chase aggressively, scoring goals early. But it was Mission Side, the underdogs going into this tie who gave BJ a dose of this medicing as ex-BJ defender Alika pumped balls into the BJ defensive third for a burly Okafor to chase, and the attacker caused the BJ defence lots trouble with his powerful running and overall physical play.
Osele should have put the brave and super charged Mission Side in front midway into the first half when he was presented with a chance and had Anthony at his mercy but the attacker blasted the ball high and wide.
BJ were rocked in the first half and struggled to cope with the intense aggressive play of Mission Side.
However, the former champions of the Bet9ja cup came out more forcefully in the second half and started pilling pressure on Mission Side.
Ediae, who ended the highest scorer in the competition, shot BJ into the lead with a beautiful goal, collecting a pass in a crowded Mission Side box, showed calm and poise to swerve and move the ball a little to his right, then sending a well-placed low shot to the far corner of Mission Side goalkeeper Eseosa Bazuaye's right.
The BJ players and fans celebration was wild and it looked like the match-winning goal. But Osele and his Mission Side team had other ideas.
It was more drama in the ensuing penalty shootout as goalie Bazuaye saved several kicks of BJ players including stopping that of Ediae to make Mission Side worthy champions.
In the 3rd place game played earlier in the day, Rolly FC, Benin city beat Fatai Dragons of Auchi 1-0 via a first half goal to win the 100,000 naira cash prize for the third placed team.
BJ Foundation got 200,000naira for finishing second while Mission Side smiled to the bank with 500,000 naira prize money as champions.
