Kano Pillars have narrowed the gap between them and FC Ifeanyi Ubah to just one point after they beat the Anambra Warriors 3-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League rescheduled games played on Wednesday.

Nyima Nwagua scored two goals while another one from Rabiu Aliu gave the Pyramid Boys three goals and more importantly three points to keep them in the run for one of the playoff spots.

Pillars who were beaten by a lone goal in the reverse fixture in Nnewi dominated the proceedings in Wednesday’s rescheduled tie and after just three minutes of action, the hosts were in front with Nwagua getting the curtain raiser.

While the home team pressed for more goals in the first half, the Anambra Warriors were able to repel their attacks as they kept the scoreline respectable going into the second half.

It was Nwagua who got Pillars second goal just after the hour-mark when he rounded goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie to score after being set up by his teammate Yusuf Maigoro.

With this latest win, Kano Pillars now have 20 points from 12 games, and they are third on the log in Pool B of the NPFL.

On their part, FC Ifeanyi are second on the log with 21 points also from 12 games.

Lobi Stars failed to make their home advantage count on Wednesday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Niger Tornadoes in another rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League game.

Enugu Rangers ensured that they took four points off relegation battlers Remo Stars as they forced their hosts to a barren draw at the Gateway Stadium in Sagamu on Wednesday in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League game (Goal)
