Top Aspirant for FIAN Presidency Oji Promises New Face of Players’ Representation, Bi-Annual Grassroots Tournament in Nigeria for Scouts of Foreign Clubs

By Daily Sports on March 28, 2019

The Football Intermediaries Association of Nigeria (FIAN) holds its Annual General Meeting on April 5 and 6, 2019 where senior officials of the body would be elected.

One of the leading contenders for the FIAN presidency is top Nigerian agent and Delta state born Ferdinand Oji.

Oji has risen fast to the top echelon of players intermediaries in the world of football on the strenght of his dogged and honest approach to players representation and it is these qualities that drives his ambition to see that licenced players representatives get the recognition that the crucial nature of their role in the football business in Nigeria demands.

Following massive pressure from different quarters on him to contest, Oji threw his heart in the ring and has spoken to me about his plans for FIAN if elected.

Oji’s manifesto includes, amongst others the following:

1. Carrying members of FIAN along in all activities of the body so as to give everyone a strong sense of belonging.

2. Working to get the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to give a recognition letter to FIAN in line with similar practices in other football federations.

3. Constant liaison with the League Management Company (LMC) and all other football stakeholders.

4. Making a stronge push to ensure all foreign embassies in Nigeria ease the Visa issuance process for Nigerian players invited by foreign clubs for trials.

5. Organising a biannual Under-18 soccer event for grassroots players that would see scouts and agents from top foreign clubs come to watch and pick players.

6. Working to make FIAN a more independent and self-sustaining body.

7. Instilling the culture of 100% transparency amongst members of FIAN.

Oji is a well-respected figure in players management and, as it stands today, he is one of the movers and shakers of football in Edo state through his numerous football programs that serve as a source of hope for young players.

Oji counts amongst his clients Pascal Durugbor of Swedish league club Vaxjo United. He's a Nigerian Under-20 striker who impressed in the last African Junior Nations Cup that held in Niger.
