Shola Shoretire emerges youngest player in UEFA Youth League

By Daily Sports on December 14, 2018

Manchester United forward Shola Shoretire has become the youngest player to appear in the UEFA Youth League at just 14.

The winger was introduced in the 74th minute of the 2-1 win over Valencia on Wednesday at just 14 years at 314 days and in doing so he became the youngest player to make an appearance in the Youth League -- a European competition for U19 teams.

Shoretire, who has trained with England at youth level but is also eligible to represent Nigeria, travelled to Spain with Nicky Butt's squad after 17-year-old pair Mason Greenwood and James Garner were called up to the senior team.

The U19s were already sure of a spot in the knockout rounds but made sure they finished the group stage unbeaten after goals from Nishan Burkart and Aidan Barlow saw United come from behind to beat Valencia 2-1. (ESPN)
