Will Twitter users take over the job of a coach someday like Wenger fears? Likely!

Arsene Wenger is well-known for being a perspicatious man with a vast insight in the football game and the game of life itself. Inspite of this, or because of this, he came under a great deal of ridicule when football games didnt go the way of Arsenal when he was manager there before quitting the club last May.

Except for some myopic minds who sadly are a loud minority, Arsene's words carry a lot of weight, much of it down to how intelligent they are, illuminating our minds impressively more on what we think we already know or what we never really gave much heed.

He continues to offer his intelligent opinions on several topics related to football today and he bared his thoughts on the possible intrusion of robots into the job of coaching and how Twitter feeds could very likely be employed by football club owners to make decisions that have been the reserve of coaches.

John Cross of the Daily Mirror writes that Wenger "fears it is only a matter of time before Twitter polls are used to make substitutions."

Cross reports that Wenger, 69, "made the sensational claim along with a belief that ROBOTS could also take over as football managers in the future and make decisions on statistics."

"Wenger got frustrated with social media and Arsenal Fan TV during the latter years of his reign at the Emirates for the constant criticism and he also insisted it dragged the club’s name and reputation down.

But Wenger believes a club in the future will use Twitter in the future when he insisted a manager’s 'Intuition' should always be used.

Wenger, in an interview with beIN Sports, said: 'I’ve said many times, you could imagine the next chairman who says that the social networks can make a change in the second half.

'That will become more and more entrenched. It will happen. I personally, would not accept it. I’m from the old school in that respect. But we’re going in that direction.

'If you imagine the power of social networks. What is even worse, it’s not the majority, the minority is the most extreme, it’s a bit like the problem with democracy, it’s a dictatorship of the minorities.

'It’s not for me, there’s something I call intuition, I grew up and used my own eyes. You can as well imagine that in 20 years, a robot will sit in front of you.'"

I would add that the chairmen of clubs, the likes of which Arsene talks about above, may not even wait until half time to allow Twitter users to make direct inputs into team selection. I can imagine such club owners asking a Twitter poll to decide the starting line-up of teams themselves.

Arsene was also asked what he would do if he for to heaven and meets God. His answer was hilarious. "I will ask 'where are the referees?'", he said.

As I read that, my mind wondered about the ref who sent me to the stands in a recent game in which my grassroots team Benin Warriors played in Awka, and I jokingly feel I want to see him now and can't wait to get to heaven.

Togo-based Nigerian pro praises Riyad Mahrez after watching the Algerian dazzle against hosts Togo in AFCON qualifier

Algeria sealed a place in next year's AFCON after an impressive 4-1 win away against Togo in Lome last Sunday.

One Nigerian was in the stands to watch the match live. He is Harrison Kelechi, one-time Ikorodu United and Warri Wolves star winger who now plays his club football with Togolese top flight club Sara Sports de Bafilo.

Kelechi is a young and fantastic dribbler with an intelligent sense of positioning and also posesses blistering pace to boot.

Watching Mahrez at the Stade de Segue though was an enlightening moment for Kelechi.

The Algeria and Man City winger terrorized hosts Togo, scoring two beautiful first half goals as Algeria hammered the West Africans.

Mahrez's first was a lovely 25-yard chip that caught the Togolese 'keeper unawares.

Mahrez scored his second goal and Algeria's 3rd by latching on to a pass and smashing a wicked shot into the net. It was a first half blitz that blew Togo out.

The former Leicester City player was in his sparkling best throughout the game and Kelechi couldn't help but take to Facebook after the game to hail Mahrez.

Kelechi wrote: "Those things (we see) Mahrez do on TV are no film tricks. He's a great player."

It feels like a rich experience always to see for yourself what big players do live and Kelechi has the privilege of seeing that.
