Captain of Enyimba International FC of Aba, dare devil striker Mfon Udoh is excited to be back on his feet again following the troublesome knee ligament injury which has sidelined him for the past five months.

Daily Sports recalls that Udoh sustained the injury towards the end of the last Nigeria Professional Football League season and recently returned to training.

The sizzling ex-player star of Akwa United confessed that the knee injury was serious and scary enough that he feared his career might be over.

“It has been a very difficult period for me; I must confess, coming from injury, back to training right now. At first, when I had the injury, I thought I was not going to play again, because of the severe nature of the injury,” said in the club’s official website.

It could also be recalled that he finished as top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League five seasons ago, and is yet to kick a ball this term, admitting it has been tough staying on the sidelines watching his teammates rough it out on the field.

“Let me be honest with you, sometimes I wish l could borrow someone’s legs to go and play,” he joked.

“You can’t just stay away. You have hunger for the game, as a professional, and sometimes staying outside and watching my colleagues play, I’m always sad. It made me want to come back as quick as I could.

“I have to applaud our medical crew, they have been awesome. From the beginning of the injury, they were there for me; they made sure I underwent all the necessary treatment. I’m so grateful to my teammates too, who have been tremendously supportive,” the hard fighting player noted.

In Udoh’s absence, Enyimba has barely managed to get going especially in the opening weeks of the campaign but he praised his teammates for their efforts despite daunting challenges.

“The inability to score goals in the team right now is because we’re just starting. We have new players getting to know each other. I believe as time goes on, we’ll blend and forcefully come back into full reckoning which has come to be Enyimba International FC traditional hallmark over the years,” he asserted.

“For me I’m going to try my best. I’m going join forces with my players, and make sure we try as much as possible not to put the fans under pressure.”
