2017 WAFU CUP: Nigeria stop hard-fighting Sierra Leone

Nigeria beat hard fighting Sierra Leon 2-0 Monday night in Cape Coast to qualify for the group stage of the WAFU Cup in Ghana.

Osas Okoro opened scoring when his 84th minute free kick on the edge of the box after Rabiu Ali beat the Sierra Leone wall as well as the goalkeeper.

Nigeria doubled their lead three minutes later through debutant Peter Eneji.

The Leone Stars took the game to Nigeria in the opening minutes of the WAFU playoff and they continued to dictate the pace of the game so much so that Man of the Match at least in the first half was Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Ezenwa saved a shot by Mahmoud Fofanah after 15 minutes, did so again in the 32nd minute.

Midway through the second half, which was dominated by Nigeria, Chima Akas saw his effort crash against the sidenetting.The Eagles will now take on hosts Ghana in a Group A clash on Thursday.
