Chidozie Awaziem gets Eagles second chance

By Daily Sports on August 19, 2017

Chidozie Awaziem, who posted a stinker on official debut he would love to forget in a hurry against South Africa in June, has been handed a second chance to redeem himself after he was called up for next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

The Nantes of France central defender put every foot wrong as Bafana Bafana recorded their first-ever win in an official game against Nigeria in an AFCON 2019 qualifier in June.

“He’s been called up for the Cameroon matches,” an official told SCORENigeria

The former FC Porto B player has been on the fringes of the Eagles first team before he was thrust into the deep end against South Africa with disastrous results after winning caps against Corsica and Togo in friendlies in France earlier this year.

Nantes are second bottom of the French Ligue 1 without any points as Awaziem has started one and came in as a sub in the other game.

They lost 3-0 at Lille on the opening day of the new season, before they fell 1-0 at home against Olympique Marseille.
