Again, Awoniyi’s club crash out of top division

By Daily Sports on May 29, 2017

The second successive European club Taiwo Awoniyi has played for have been relegated after the Dutch club NEC Nijmegen crashed to the second division next season following a 4-1 trouncing at their home by NAC Breda in a relegation-promotion playoffs Sunday.

Last season, Awoniyi played again on loan at German second division club FSV Frankfurt, who were also relegated to the lower league at the end of the season.

NAC Breda thus gained promotion to the Dutch top division on a 5-1 aggregate having won the first leg at home 1-0.

Awoniyi, who is on a season-long loan from Premier League club Liverpool, played the entire game today for NEC, but he could not save them from the dreaded drop.
