Oduah raises alarm over Cameroun W/C qualifier •Tells minister, NFF to put house in order

By Victor Enyinnaya on April 6, 2017

Former member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Prince Isidore Oduah, has identified procrastination as a deadly virus that has afflicted Nigerian football and retarded it to comatose status.

The Financial Secretary of Association of Sports Veterans Nigeria further points accusing fingers at the present day administrators who like typical past and present Nigerian Presidents who are never prepared for governance hence the often used trial and error methods.

“It is same with nowadays sports administrators which football is part and parcel of. The story is not different. Their attitude has drastically weakened the game and one can no longer stick out one’s neck for any of our national teams’ performance even at the continental club championships. It’s a deadly virus on mission to sink our football because those at the helm know next to nothing but only how to enrich their pockets and climb to higher positions while the game continues to kiss the mud and dust. They are not schooled enough on antidote to apply to steer football out of the murky waters.”

Oduah who served in the most resourceful NFA board led by the late Sunday Dankaro revealed that the late administrator never procrastinated for one day in the discharge of his duties and it was why our football attained its optimal potential. He totally avoided that virus because he knew it kills interest and passion and drags progress many steps backwards. Dankaro and his vibrant board tackled problems of the game head-on and got them solved without them spreading.

The former member of Anambra State Sports Council frowned at how focus was beamed and shifted to Pinnick Amaju’s CAF election as if it would solve the multiple of problems he inflicted on the sport since he forced his way into NFF leadership position. According to him, it clearly shows the lack of direction and administration ineptitude whim and his likes have learnt nothing and forgot nothing.

“They forgot the country has one big iron on fire when it is red and hot, its either you break it or you bend the iron. That is the exact description of the August World Cup qualifier game against Cameroun in Uyo for which the roaring Lions are deeply planning to come here, frustrate the Eagles and go for the kill in Limbe on September 2.”

He spoke exclusively from his Otuche Ogbaru Anambra State country home, stressing the friendly against Senegal is just a preliminary of what to expect from Cameroun. The Central Africans are not taking the game for granted as they prepare earnestly for the worst against the Nigerians. Here everyone in NFF was busy running around Amaju election because of the monetary gains.

“Whether they believe this or not, our World Cup qualification is hanging on the balance. The game against Cameroun in Uyo will make or mar our supposedly bright chances. No tangible plans on ground until the eleventh hour. Every country is focused on the World Cup preparations. What those vested with 2018 World Cup project are shamefully into busy body talks which will out to be an ill-wind and can also equally liken to the adage of a man whose house is on fire that curiously turns round to chase rat.”

He asked rhetorically where the huge NFF share of dollars from FIFA is, alleging that it was used for the CAF election instead of World Cup qualifiers it was specifically meant for. He posits that the Eagles players are being owed and even the Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, is allegedly owed three months’ salary. Where is our refuge? It is now gathering and will explode when the World Cup qualifier preparations thickens. Attention would be divided instead of total concentration on the issue at hand, watch out except there is urgent bail out, he adds.

Oduah, one of Rangers International Patrons laments the kind of character presiding over Sports Ministry. He scored Solomon Dalung lowest regretting that such a man that talks on drop of hat is Sports Minister, he often indulges in shadow chasing which reduced sports cum football to nothingness.

“Sadly, due to how he has presented himself, he could not face NFF President squarely and give him summary instruction on the importance of 2018 World Cup ticket to Nigerians. If he and the NFF fail to put their house in order, Cameroun would come here, truncated and rubbish our early leadership of the group. Let Dalung and his group stop these frivolities they are into and streamline our World Cup qualifier operations, otherwise youths would cause unprecedented sports revolution if anything unusual happen to our Russia 2018 ticket which will shock the entire nation to her foundation. It is my candid advice to the Minister and NFF leadership,” he warns.
