Trio in line for Wikki job

By Daily Sports on October 28, 2016

Fatai Amao, Kabiru Dogo and Mohammed Baba Ganaru have emerged as the frontrunners for the vacant head coach role at Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Wikki Tourists.

One of the three coaches is expected to replace Abdu Maikaba, who surprisingly announced his departure from the Bauchi club this month despite guiding them to a top-three finish in the Nigeria top division last term.

The club met with one of the candidates, Baba Ganaru, on Thursday to discuss possible terms and working modalities.

"Officials of Wikki Tourists met with Baba Ganaru today," supersport.com was informed earlier on Thursday.

"The discussion centred on his plans for the team and his personal terms."

Amao, who worked as assistant coach with the Nigeria under-23s at the Olympic Games in Brazil, and Dogo are also expected to meet with Wikki management on Friday and Saturday to talk about their intentions for the club.

Wikki finished in third place last term and will compete in the Caf Confederation Cup, NPFL and the Federation Cup next year.

The club is expected to name Maikaba's replacement in November ahead of their pre-season programme. (supersport.com)
