The men’s world 100-metre champion, Christian Coleman, was banned Tuesday for two years for breaching anti-doping rules.
“The Disciplinary Tribunal has upheld the AIU’s charge and banned sprinter Christian Coleman of the USA for 2 years for 3 Whereabouts Failures in a 12-month period, a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules,” the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Twitter.
The whereabout rule mandates athletes provide information about their location and be ready for tests once called.
The AIU said Coleman cannot appear in any competition until May 13, 2022.
The 24-year-old American will miss the Olympics in Tokyo next summer but can appeal the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
