Thiago Silva Grateful To Lampard For Chelsea Chance

By Daily sports on October 23, 2020

Thiago Silva admits he left PSG for Chelsea to try a “new challenge”.

The veteran defender joined Chelsea on a free transfer last month and has already established himself as a first-choice for manager Frank Lampard.

Thiago Silva told Esporte Interativo: “I like challenges. I was in Paris for eight years, theoretically somehow I was pretty casual. Not flippant in the sense of not working, not wanting good results. But you end up falling into a routine. And for me, it would be difficult to start another year with all this pressure of having to win the Champions League.

“I changed the air a little to find myself a little more relaxed. Not that there is no pressure, the pressure is the same. I’m playing for a great team looking for titles anyway.

“I came to try to help. Usually a 36-year-old leaves the Premier League and is theoretically looking for the easiest leagues to play. I do the opposite. So I’m ready for this, I'm ready, I'm getting ready every day, I thank Chelsea for their trust, especially Lampard for accepting my coming here, he was a guy who gave his approval.

“So I will try to give my all on the pitch. But the challenge is enormous.” (Tribal Football)
